Laboratory Technician
Scientific Laboratory Technician Job Description Scientific Laboratory Technicians Are Involved In A Variety Of Laboratory-based Investigations Within Biological, Chemical, Physical And Life Science Areas. They May Carry Out Sampling, Testing, Measuring, Recording And Analyzing Of Results As Part Of A Scientific Team. Technicians Provide All The Required Technical Support To Enable The Laboratory To Function Effectively Whilst Adhering To Correct Procedures And Health And Safety Guidelines. Scientific Laboratory Technicians Carry Out Work That Assists In The Advancement And Development Of Modern Medicine And Science. The Work Plays An Important Role In The Foundation Stages Of Research And Development (R&D) And In Scientific Analysis And Investigation. They Are Mainly Employed Within Industry, In Government Departments And Research Organizations.
Reponsibilities:
- Supporting/Assisting The Medical Laboratory Scientists In All Areas Of Medical Laboratory Investigations And In All Disciplines Of Medical Laboratory Science (I.E Haematology, Blood Transfusion, Microbiology, Cytology, Chemical Pathology Etc)
- Involvement In Troubleshooting And Maintenance Of Equipment, Guards, Devices And Other Appliances Being Used In The Laboratory.
- Assisting In Phlebotomy Services, Within The Laboratory And Outside The Laboratory (Where Needed), After Adequate Training
- Assisting In The Preparation Of Culture Media And Another Laboratory Reagent, As Directed By The Medical Laboratory Scientists Or/And Or The Medical Laboratory Director
- Other Professional Duties, As May Be Directed By The Medical Laboratory Director
Requirements:
- Minimum Academic Qualification Of Ond In Any Science Laboratory Technology Or Any Related Science Course
- Involvement In Troubleshooting And Maintenance Of Equipment, Guards, Devices And Other Appliances Being Used In The Laboratory.
- Certification As A Licensed Laboratory Technician Is Mandatory (Certification From The Medical Laboratory Science Council Of Nigeria (Mlscn) Is Preferred )
- Excellent Organizational Skill
- Excellent Communication Skill
