Poultry Worker

we are looking for Poultry farmers who are responsible for raising chickens, ducks, geese and other types of poultry. They’re tasked with providing these animals with food, water and shelter while ensuring that they remain healthy and free from disease. Poultry farmers may also be responsible for performing a number of other tasks related to the care of their birds. These might include administering vaccinations or antibiotics, collecting eggs, cleaning cages or coops, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating The Condition Of Animals To Ensure That They Are Healthy And Comfortable And Feeding Chickens And Turkeys With Specialized Diets Designed To Promote Growth Or Prevent Disease
  • Culling Chickens From The Flock If They Are Injured Or Become Become Ill, And Cleaning And Maintaining Poultry Farm Equipment And Facilities
  • Observing The Behavior Of Chickens To Detect Changes In Activity Level Or Feather Condition And Inspecting Chickens For Signs Of Disease Or Infestation By Parasites
  • Selling Chickens Or Other Poultry At Local Markets Or Directly To Consumers And Keeping Records Of Feed Consumption, Egg Production, And Health Conditions Of Poultry
  • Raising Chickens For Meat And Eggs Through Breeding And Hatching Chicks

Requirements:

  • Most Employers Require Poultry Farmers To Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. Some Employers May Prefer An Associate’S Or Bachelor’S Degree In Agriculture Or Animal Science. These Degrees Provide Foundational Knowledge In Biology.
  • Culling Chickens From The Flock If They Are Injured Or Become Become Ill, And Cleaning And Maintaining Poultry Farm Equipment And Facilities
  • Some Employers May Require Employees To Pass An Industry-Specific Certification To Show Their General Understanding Of The Field.
  • Communication Is Another Important Skill For Poultry Farmers. They Often Communicate With Their Employees, Suppliers And Customers.
  • Poultry Farmers Must Be Able To Identify And Solve Problems In Their Poultry Operations. For Example, If A Flock Of Chickens Is Sick, The Poultry Farmer Must Be Able To Identify The Problem And Find A Solution.
